EEHV Laboratory Summer Internship-qPCR
The Smithsonian’s National Zoo’s Elephant Endotheliotropic Herpesvirus Laboratory is the primary EEHV diagnostic lab for the U.S. An intern will assist with a learning opportunity in partnership with BodeVet Inc. by participating in a project on elephant blood compatibility. The intern will also learn how to monitor elephants for EEHV. The intern will learn how to store and analyze samples for blood compatibility, optimize DNA preparations and qPCR assays on multiple sample types for EEHV, record results, and write a brief report detailing his/her activities.

Veterinary Conservation Research Internship: Elephant Endotheliotropic Herpesvirus (EEHV)
The Houston Zoo is seeking a summer Veterinary Student Intern for our Elephant Endotheliotropic Herpesvirus program. This is an opportunity to work on issues surrounding the most important viral disease of elephants with both the elephant husbandry and veterinary teams at the Houston Zoo, as well as EEHV researchers at Baylor College of Medicine located across the street from the zoo in the Texas Medical Center.
